Pine Island, Currituck, NC

Real Estate with a classic Outer Banks feel

Pine Island CurrituckDriving north on Hwy 12 through Southern Shores and the town of Duck, but before you reach the village of Corolla, you will reach the area called Pine Island.   Known for its large, elegant and luxurious beach homes.  It has earned a reputation as one of the more exclusive and sought-after communities on the Outer Banks.  These homes are perched along three miles of pristine beach and to the west borders the nature preserve owned by the National Audubon Society.    As one of the more unique areas of the Outer Banks, many of the Pine Island rental homes offer wide open views of the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the nature preserve and Currituck Sound to the west.   This neighborhood beautifully pairs the high-end luxury beach home experience with a natural setting.  With having fewer homes in Pine Island (only around 275), the beaches are less crowded and gives more space for family and friends to enjoy the beach.  A quick drive north you will find the Village of Corolla with grocery stores, restaurants, and shopping.  You could take a tour of the historic Whalehead Club or climb the 162-foot Corolla Lighthouse, built in 1875.  Also, a quick drive south will take you to Duck Village with all the shopping and dining it has to offer.

Break out your tennis racket!

The Pine Island Racquet and Fitness Center is a 20,000 square foot first class racquet and fitness facility that is operated by the Pine Island Property Owners Association. It offers three climate controlled cushioned indoor tennis courts, two outdoor clay courts and fitness center complete with cardio and circuit training equipment, it also provides showers and locker rooms and offers tennis clinics with one of the in-house professionals.  The facility is open to the public and offers discounts to renters of Pine Island.  The Pine Island Beach Club provides a large ocean side pool, pool side billiards and ping pong table as well a dune top deck with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean.  To the north hidden down a bike path along N. Cove Road is another outdoor pool with picnic areas, basketball, tennis and volleyball courts.  Bike paths connect all sections allowing for biking or walking that is away from the busier Duck Road.

Real Estate with a Sanctuary

Pine Island is partnered with the 26,600-acre Donal C. O’Brien Jr. Audubon Sanctuary.  This beautiful area is home to 175 species of bird along with a huge variety of mammal’s amphibians and reptiles you can look for.  Stroll through the three-mile-long nature trail that runs through maritime forest and has beautiful marsh overlooks.  Take your exploring to the next level and take and eco-kayak and paddleboard adventure that are available for Pine Island Guests.

When you are an owner, you are part of a proactive community with a professional HOA.  Owners enjoy the fact that the trash cans get rolled out and back to the house on pick-up days and that the homes are connected to a community sewer, cutting out the hassle of maintaining a private septic system.  With the majority of homes being Ocean Front.  Pine Island is unique for the fact that the home owner’s association keeps a Dune Replenishment Fund, to build up the dunes in the event of any storms that may bring erosion.  Come experience what Pine Island has to offer.
